Resident Voice overview – July

This month, our Resident Voice team has continued to be present in our communities, meeting residents, listening to feedback and highlighting how you can get involved with us.

We’re continuing to grow our network of community champions in the Haverhill area, helping to ensure local residents have a voice and can share feedback that helps shape our services. If this sounds like something you would be interested in click here.

This month we also welcomed Milly to the Resident Voice team. Milly will be working with communities in Haverhill and the surrounding areas. 

 “I can’t wait to work with residents to ensure they have their voice heard. I am passionate about our Community Investment Grants and the help they can provide to our communities as well as developing and working with our community champions network.”

The team have been out judging for our sustainable outdoor space award, and we can’t wait to share the winners with you along with the incredible work they do to keep their outdoors spaces sustainable.

In August, we will also be finalising our tallest three sunflowers within our community so if you took part in our sunflower competition make sure you get your final measurements to us on 11 August.

What has been happening

Earlier in the month, we held a small community event on The Vinefields in Bury St Edmunds to support residents whilst major improvement works are taking place. It gave residents the opportunity to chat with us, raise any concerns and ask questions, which were passed on to the relevant teams to help get things resolved.

The team also held a pop-up event in Stanton which was very well attended, with lots of residents stopping by to speak to the team. They discussed a range of topics, including repairs and future home improvements such as new windows and solar panels. Residents said they appreciated us bringing the event to Stanton, as it can be difficult for some people to attend events elsewhere.

In Thetford, a drop-in session took place at the Guildhall to reach our residents in Thetford and the surrounding areas. The Resident Voice team were joined by our Repairs and Income teams. Resident conversations were had around reporting safeguarding issues, applying for mutual exchanges and using home-link.

August will be a busy month for the team as we attend fun days and check-ins and host drop-ins and pop-ups. Here is an overview of where we will be

  • Summer fun days in Haverhill (29 July – Chalkstone fun day, 5 August – Parkway fun day and 12 August – Clements fun day)
  • Priors Fun Day – 17 August
  • Ely pop-up – 25 August
  • Needham neighbourhood check-in – 13 August
  • Westbury drop-in – 20 August – Westbury Community Centre, Oliver Road, Bury St Edmunds, Ip33 3JG
  • Clements neighbourhood check-in and engagement hub – 27 August
