In July, we told you that our mutual exchange platform House Exchange permanently closed and would no longer be available after this date.
We are really pleased to introduce to you our new platform HomeSwapper.
What is a mutual exchange?
A mutual exchange is a home swap between two social housing residents. It can happen for many reasons, such as needing more (or less) space, moving for work or to be closer to family. It gives you more control and means you’re able to choose a home that suits your needs better in a place you want to live.
You can swap homes with any other council or housing association tenant that lives anywhere in the UK, so your swap doesn’t have to be in the area managed by us.
Before you start looking for a home or submit your mutual exchange application, it’s important to read through our ‘Your Guide to Mutual Exchange’ leaflet, which includes a handy checklist to help you prepare.
The guide explains which repairs you’re responsible for completing before applying for a mutual exchange, as well as any repairs you need to report to our Repairs team for us to carry out.
Following the checklist will help make sure your home is in an acceptable condition before you apply and can help prevent delays with your application.
