It’s been a busy September for our Resident Voice team as they were out in your communities, listening to resident voices and working with local partners to help make a positive difference. There has been a particular focus this month on working with residents to improve green spaces and providing a safe space for residents to share their voices.

Rural areas

The team held two pop-ups in our more rural communities of Framlingham and Barrow. At Framlingham they were joined by our Neighbourhood and Estates team as well as Norfolk Police and East Suffolk Council. The pop-up was a great success and further highlighted how we can work together to support our residents. The pop-up in Barrow helped the team understand issues the community face and these were raised with the relevant teams.

Neighbourhood check-in

Alongside our Neighbourhood and Estates team, resident voice headed to Felixstowe, and Trimley St Martin for their neighbourhood check-in. Despite the rainy weather, it was a useful opportunity to visit some of our newer homes, check the condition of the local area, and show residents our commitment to all of the areas we have homes.

Haverhill drop-in

The drop-in at Haverhill Arts Centre brought together team members from neighbourhoods and estates, repairs and income, alongside West Suffolk’s family liaison officer. A number of residents came along to chat with the teams, who were able to answer questions, provide advice and help address issues directly.

One-to-one pop up trial

The team also held their first one-to-one pop-up at Stourview Wellbeing Centre in Haverhill. This provided a quieter, more private space where residents could have a chat and raise any concerns or issues they may have.

We know that busy events and larger groups aren’t comfortable for everyone, so the team wanted to offer a better way for residents to speak to us and get the support they need. Hopefully, this format can be introduced in other areas including in Bury St Edmunds.

Filming at The Priors Estate

The team also joined our communications, neighbourhood and estates and repairs team for a filming day on the Priors Estate in Bury St Edmunds. The film captured will be featuring in our new recruitment video which will launch before the end of the year. Residents were invited to film with us so that we could capture real people, having real conversations. We were joined by seven residents who also used the opportunity to speak to the Resident Voice team about any concerns, and in some cases we were able to provide further feedback on these concerns on the day.
