Resident voice overview – October

This month, the Resident Voice team has been getting out and about across our communities, working alongside team members and local organisations to listen to residents, understand the issues that matter to them and identify opportunities to make a difference.

The team has also been spending time with local community organisations that have successfully received a Community Investment Grant. These visits have given us the chance to find out more about the projects being delivered, meet the people behind the applications and, most importantly, hear from the people who have been impacted by the funding. It’s been a great opportunity to see first-hand how our grants are supporting local communities and making a difference to people’s lives. We will be sharing more about these stories in the winter edition of Havebury News.

The team have attended a number of check-ins, including Fornham, Needham Market, Stowmarket and Bacton, supporting the Neighbourhoods and Estates team. These visits gave the team the opportunity to walk around our estates, familiarise themselves with both new and established communities and gain a better understanding of the issues affecting different areas. This insight helps them identify where they can work with residents and team members to make positive changes.

They hosted a drop-in at Newbury Community Centre in Bury, which was a great success. They had lots of residents come along to share their experiences, raise issues and talk about ideas for their communities. Having team members from Income, Repairs, Grounds Maintenance, Supported and Neighbourhoods and Estates, alongside West Suffolk Recycling, meant they were able to help with a number of issues there and then. It was a great example of teams coming together to listen and provide support directly to residents.

In Ixworth, the team held a pop-up at the Village Hall, joined by Home-Start, West Suffolk Recycling and Neighbourhoods and Estates. They were also joined by one of our Community Champions, who helped with the set-up and shared some of the issues affecting their own community. This gave us a valuable insight from someone who lives locally, while West Suffolk Recycling were able to provide support and advice around some of the concerns raised.

They also held a drop-in at Lucy Adams House, giving residents living there the opportunity to share their feedback, raise concerns and tell us about the things they value. Residents highlighted a number of issues which we have recorded and are now working with other team members to address. It was also lovely to hear positive feedback, with residents taking the time to recognise staff for their hard work and dedication.

All of these conversations are helping us build stronger relationships with residents, community groups and local organisations, while making sure their experiences, concerns and ideas are heard. By working closely with residents, team members and local partners, we can better understand what matters locally and work together to make a positive difference.
