If you live within Suffolk, from today, there will be some changes to recycling and waste collections. These changes should make it easier for you to recycle more.
We’ll share updates for other counties on our website, as soon as we have them.
Please note that we are not responsible for collecting your waste or recycling. If you have questions about bins, collection days, or missed collections, you’ll need to contact your local council directly.
Communal bins
If you live in an area with a communal bin store, you will have a 140-litre brown bin for you to empty your food waste into, which will be collected weekly. You can use any type of bag, apart from black rubbish bags, to line your kitchen caddy, although we recommend avoiding paper as it might disintegrate! You can put the bag containing the food waste directly into the large food waste bin, there’s no need to empty the bag out first.
Please do not leave waste on the ground or dump items such as sofas or TVs in the bin stores, as this will be considered fly-tipping, and means your bins won’t get emptied.
Everything should be able to fit in the correct bins, but, if you have a large amount of waste due to moving in/out or Christmas, please use your nearest recycling centre or bulk collection service, as other people also need space in the communal bins.
