4. Description: Houses construction work. Uttlesford District Council is looking for a competent local Building Contractor for a development of 6 houses in Catons Lane, Saffron Walden, Essex.The site is located 500m to the north of Saffron Walden town centre, adjacent to Saffron Walden Town Football Club.The Council has obtained planning permission to demolish the 40 garages currently on site and to develop the land providing six affordable new homes. The successful tenderer will need experience of building affordable housing and ideally of building on garage sites.The Contract, estimated to be £680,000, will be let on the basis of a JCT Design & Build Contract. It is hoped that works can commence on site during March 2015 with an expected completion date in October 2015 (a 32 week programme).
