Earlier this month, Bury St Edmund’s unsung heroes were celebrated at this year’s Bury Free Press Community Awards.

Held in partnership with Bury St Edmunds Town Council, and held at the Guildhall in Bury St Edmunds, finalists, sponsors and guests gathered to recognise the individuals, groups and organisations who have gone above and beyond to make a difference across the town over the past year.

We were proud sponsors of the Eco Friendly award. This award aims to celebrate individuals or groups with a special commitment to environmental care, sustainability, and green initiatives, helping to protect, nurture, and enhance the natural environment of Bury St Edmunds for future generations.

Vicky and Josh, both from our Sustainability and Delivery team were in attendance on the night to present the award to the winner.

Woodland Ways took home the trophy for its work in transforming and caring for community woodlands across Morten Hall.

Nick Sibbett, chairman of Woodland Ways, said.: “It’s so lovely to hear what everybody does across the town and to hear how many wonderful people there are doing incredible things. It’s really good to recognise their efforts.”

Reclaim The Woods was named highly commended on the evening with their work in improving the woodland between Marham Park, Mildenhall Road and the Howard Estate. Their focus is to clear rubbish, maintain pathways and improve their area for the residents and local community.
