Rural Housing Week 2026

Every year, Rural Housing Week highlights the many social and economic benefits of affordable housing to rural communities.

You can watch the short video from The National Housing Federation which explains the importance of building homes in rural areas.

Our head of development, Schuyler, explains:

“Building homes in rural communities is incredibly important to us.  By providing high-quality homes for local people, we help them stay close to their families, workplaces, and support networks. It means people can continue living in the areas where they grew up and remain part of the communities they know and love.

We receive consistently positive feedback from residents moving into our rural developments, and homes in villages continue to be some of the most popular choices among our shared ownership applicants.”

We are proud to have homes in rural communities such as; Thurston, Badwell Ash, Rougham, Stanton, Isleham, and this year we are continuing to build more homes in rural communities such as in Clare, Mendlesham and Wymondham.

Our resident, Sophie, who lives in a rural community says:

“I’m on a single salary, so I had resigned myself to living with my parents well in to my 40s – if not forever. When Havebury offered me an affordable housing tenancy I couldn’t believe it was actually a reality for me.

I have a disability, so staying close to my parents and support network was a necessity for me. But nature is also a big part of what keeps me feeling healthy and on an even keel. Being able to stay somewhere rural, but not be isolated, has been a dream come true.”
